Hugo once described Destino as “the biggest project of my life.” As the Pacha brand continued to grow, one thing it lacked was a place its loyal following could go during the day. This idea had been brewing in Hugo’s mind for some time, but it wasn’t until he found the perfect location that everything fell into place.
Perched high atop the cliffs of Cap Martinet with a breathtaking view of the Mediterranean, the 50,000m2 property includes huge open spaces surrounded by trees and vegetation. For Hugo, it was important that guests be able to relax and unwind in a natural environment. The jewel of the property is the swimming pool. Shaped like the iconic Pacha cherries, it is a modern oasis lined with outdoor bars and dining areas.
As Director, Hugo oversaw every detail: “Very Ibiza, very simple. Not ostentatious.” He helped design the menu, a sophisticated blend of Japanese, Mediterranean and Central American flavors made from local ingredients, some of them directly from Destino’s organic vegetable garden located at the back of the property. The two hundred seat restaurant included a rabata bar where guests could watch skilled chefs prepare their food. Other healthy amenities included a yoga studio and a full-service spa.
For entertainment, Hugo wanted to return to Ibiza’s roots where people danced under the stars. The music was carefully curated to highlight new sounds and emerging artists. Rather than booking commercial DJs, its outdoor events were headlined by the next wave of influential artists and producers, including Solomun, Guy Gerber and Nicolas Jaar. Destino even had its own underground club for afterhour parties and private events.
In its first year, Destino’s opening party drew over seven thousand people. Its closing party with Cocoon drew over ten thousand people. Destino was Hugo’s vision. It has proven an enormous success and added tremendous value to the Pacha brand.
